Helping others in need is extremely important to me. I serve on the Red Cross National Celebrity Board, lead Dove self-esteem workshops for teenage girls, consult with the Trust for Public Land’s Parks for People project, and raise funds for Doctors without Borders, the Family Violence Prevention Fund, and the International Rescue Committee.

Red Cross The Red Cross is one of the oldest national philanthropic organizations and does invaluable work every day saving American lives. Check out the Red Cross Website to find out more about how you can help. There are thousands of Americans out there whose lives you can touch. Give blood, volunteer, donate; there are a million ways to give back and share your good fortune with others.
Dove Self-Esteem Workshops Dove has a wonderful program that helps women and young girls free themselves from beauty stereotypes. The Dove Self-Esteem fund focuses its efforts to foster positive image-related self-esteem. It is their mission to provide the tools and support to individuals, groups, and organizations. Their real beauty workshops are designed to promote self-esteem within girls ages 8-12 and their adult female mentors. Click here to learn more about these workshops and the great work Dove does.
Parks for People The Trust for Public Land’s Parks for People project is the only large national conservation organization focused on creating parks for people. Research has shown that neighborhood parks reduce crime, revitalize neighborhood economies, and help protect the environment. They also give children an open space to play, which is essential for their health and development. TPL uses mapping technology to show which neighborhoods most need parks and playgrounds and works with community leaders to secure park funding, acquire parklands, and create parks. Doctors without Borders Doctors without Borders is an international medical humanitarian organization that was created by doctors and journalists in France in 1971. The organization provides aid in nearly 60 countries to people who are threatened by violence, neglect, or catastrophe. They are committed to bringing quality medical care to people caught in crisis, and speak out publicly about the violence, atrocities, and neglect they often witness in the course of their work. Learn more about Doctors without Borders here.
The Family Violence Prevention Fund The Family Violence Prevention Fund works to end violence against women and children around the world. They were instrumental in developing the Violence Against Women Act, which was passed by Congress in 1994, and they continue to reach new audiences and transform the way people address violence. Read about this organization here.
International Rescue Committee The International Rescue Committee is a global network that provides access to safety, sanctuary, and sustainable change for millions of people whose lives have been shattered by violence and oppression. Founded in 1933, the IRC provides emergency relief and relocates refugees in 42 countries. For every dollar the IRC spends, 90 cents goes to programs that directly benefit refugees and war-affected populations. Find out more here.
