I played Marianne Taylor, an intelligence agent for the Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU) on the fourth season of “24.” I was a huge fan of the show, which helped me get the role. Also, I cried and begged and offered to wash Kiefer Sutherland’s car.
Many “24” actors are kept in the dark about the plot until the last possible minute. I didn’t know my character was going to die until I got a double tap to the chest and had to be resuscitated on set by their staff cardiologic surgeon. I just thought we were all going out for ice cream!
Filming is very fast-paced for “24.” They shoot an incredible amount of film-quality television in a short period of time, and they shoot like it’s a film too. There are very few sets, except for CTU. Everything is shot in a real location, which can be challenging and time-consuming, but produces incredible results. It is such an incredibly professional team, so things just sail along. Plus, if anyone doesn’t know what they’re doing on the “24” set, Jack Bauer takes them out back and shoots them in the knee. They get it together quick.
Apparently there were a lot of references to Jack Bauer during the 2008 Republican Primaries, but I don’t think he’s a Republican or a Democrat. I think he belongs to the party of “hell-bringing badass.” And really, that is the best kind of party.
