Friends

When I auditioned for this role, I was sweating bullets the whole time. I was a huge fan of the show at the time and was totally freaking out. But because I was such a huge fan, I knew their comedic style and sensibility, which really helped me nail the material.

When I joined the cast in the ninth season, it was the biggest show on television. I was going from “Talk Soup,” a show with one million viewers a week (if we were lucky), to a show that had like 50 million viewers worldwide. I was terrified. But everyone was so kind and welcoming; they really made me feel at home. They also told me that if I screwed up they would cut me up and feed me to Matt LeBlanc’s Pomeranians. That made me buck up quite a bit.

During the first week of filming, the cast was doing some kind of trivia puzzle (I think Courteney was really into Mensa workbooks at the time). I was so excited to be doing a puzzle with Courteney Cox Arquette that I kind of spun around like a Tasmanian Devil and kicked a huge cup of coffee all over the Central Perk set. I mean, way to make a first impression—scald the crap out of the million-dollar-an-episode TV stars!

I loved getting tossed around as a love interest on the show. The more “Friends” I got to kiss, the better. Nothing better than a slutty paleontologist. Brilliant and unscrupulous: a winning combo.
